Houses of Worship Tiered Approach

Our Approach

CPPS has taken our proven approach to violence prevention, intervention, and response and adapted it for places of worship. Apply this four tiered approach to your safety program to keep your congregants safe.

Tier 1

Assessments, Policies & Procedures

The initial step to putting together an excellent Safety & Security program for any House of Worship or Faith Based Organization is to review the current Policies, Plans, and Procedures you have in place for each facility. We compare these to known Best Practices of the 1300+ organizations of a Faith Orientation we have had the pleasure of helping, as well as ANSI/OSHA standards. Additionally, we have a very thorough Vulnerability Assessment that will help you review your entire physical facility, background investigation ideologies, volunteer vetting and much more.

Tier 2

Situational Awareness Training For Congregants, Volunteers & Staff

Basic Situational Awareness is one of the best gifts to give to any employee, volunteer, or congregant that can tangibly be taken with them in everyday life. Statistics seem to indicate the threat level is up for many congregants. Helping people know how to look out for possible threatening situations and what to look for when in attendance, or when out and about in public is intrinsically essential to life itself.

Tier 3

De-Escalation & Threat Awareness Training for Leaders, Staff & Church Security

A House of Worship, and some Faith Based Organizations, helps people deal with different life struggles, which can sometimes be critical by the time the person reaches out for help. Everyone involved in helping people deal with life’s struggles need a different level of training on De-Escalation and Threat Awareness. This is great for all volunteer usher, greeter, host/hostess, parking lot attendants, lay leaders, clergy, and other staff members.

Tier 4

Senior Leadership

Senior Leadership training is an excellent overview of the full program and a discussion of Threat Management and the possible need for a team to deal with ongoing concerns of a threatening nature to a specific group of congregants (youth, senior adults, children, etc.), or to the congregation as a whole.
